Session 3 8

About an hour after people filter out of the dance hall comes the rave. Normal raves look for unused warehouses or the like. This…there is no way this scene could not have been prepared for the rave. Industrial wastelands like this just don't exist outside of films. (You're pretty sure this was a film set, at one point.)
[OOC] Abraham: We have changed into our party party outfits?
Catwalks with no railings (though if you look close, there are small, low-power shield emitters, just strong enough to catch anyone who slips). Broken pipes (though no jagged edges). Giant machines with no apparent function.
[OOC] WC GM: Yeah, you've changed.
[OOC] Abraham: Okay, this is dance combat. We approach each of the major news outlets, snapping our fingers in a menacing manner to force them back along the catwalk to the 'you loose' section.
[OOC] DocAlexander: When you're a jet you're a jet all the way…
The plan has been discussed, and as you roll in, your allies quickly point out the local representatives of the three news networks - not necessarily heads, but definitely key influencers.
Over there is Donny Lavender of the Terran News Network, notable for its pro-human bias. Even in a rave, he wears a business suit - though with dust and scorch marks that at least make him not look like a complete tool.
[OOC] Ingenue: The success of that endeavor is open for debate.
Zinda Tegram glances out the window, sizing up in particular the OI representative.
Towards the back is Marisa Hato of the Oldziey Inquirer, notable for its pro-independence bias. Supposedly she is ex-Special Forces, forcibly retired after causing excess collateral damage. She was at the dance earlier, in black dress that needs even less adjustment than Donny's suit to fit in here, though she now wears a black hat to go with it.
[OOC] Abraham: Is that independence as in 'independent from the confederacy' or independence as in not left or right?
[OOC] WC GM: The former. This is, after all, the *Oldziey* Inquirer.
[OOC] Abraham: Just needed confirmation.
Zinda Tegram emerges from the vehicle wearing her black halter top and loose pants.
Zinda Tegram: "Marisa, it's been some time. Glad to see I'm not flying against you this time."
Zinda Tegram makes eye contact.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Taking one of those free aspects, "And Now We See Eye To Eye"
[OOC] Abraham: And Marisa shoots Zinda, and Michael cheers as his secrets are now finally safe.
Michael Pearson: "[I wonder if any of the humans have realized that their anticyborg laws keep people with pacemakers from entering certain buildings…]"
Michael Pearson pushes the Integrated into starting a whisper campaign throughout the rave, with random Lagos asking random humans about how cyber laws affect the marginally cyberized.
Off to the side is Larisa Mu of the Interstellar Press, famed for its attempts at representing all significant sides of a debate - the old-fashioned but still relevant style of "political correctness" . She actually made a significant effort to dress up; the edges of her outfit frayed just so, with visible and oversized circuitry woven into her clothing. Considering the style, it's entirely possible that the firm that provided her outfit also set this rave up - or possibly she did; she has a reputation as an artist.
Zinda Tegram: "$No hard feelings about the last time we met, I hope?$"
RandomIntegrated: "[Discrimination is discrimination. Keep some people down to keep the rest up.]"
[OOC] Abraham: Zinda, was your first comment to Marisa also in Oldziey?
Marisa blinks. "Have we met?"
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Using free move to move into leaning-anti-cyber, using Tactics for an Obstruct action on the extreme anti-cyber zone.
Zinda Tegram: "You don't remember me? I'm surprised. You used to fly with Prophet back in Oldziey, am I wrong? Remember that time we uh, sort of ambushed you crossing the rings?"
Zinda Tegram: "Well, maybe I have a good memory. Still, it'd be hard to forget a knight of your caliber."
Zinda Tegram smiles at Marisa.
Marisa: "Hmm? Oh! Yes, I remember a transport pilot by the callsign of Prophet. That was you that shot him down?"
Zinda Tegram: "Yeah. Almost didn't get him, on account of that excellent schwarze-lanze pilot he had flying escort. Sorry if you got in trouble because of it."
Zinda Tegram: "I hope he was OK after the sortie?"
Marisa shrugs. "He died. The pilot who shot him down destroyed the cockpit. The rest of us made it out, though."
Zinda Tegram: "I see….I'm sorry. Well, that was a long time ago."
Marisa: "Yeah…" She smiles a bit, as if reflecting on a fond memory.
[OOC] WC GM: Michael: roll it.
[OOC] WC GM: Also: initiative is "PCs in any order, then NPCs".
Michael Pearson rolled up 4dF: 0 0 + - (Base: 5 Total: 5) (Tactics to place pass value on Extreme Anti-Cyber zone.)
[OOC] WC GM: Zinda's done an Assessment to add an Aspect to Marisa. That leaves Alexander, Ingenue, and Abraham.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Range of 1, makes that a pass value of 4.
Zinda Tegram extends her hand. "Well, I hope this time our meeting is more…$serene$. Can I buy you a drink?"
Marisa smiles and nods. "$I hear you're into setting people up now?$"
Zinda Tegram: "$They were too cute, I couldn't resist.$"
Zinda Tegram smiles a smug smile.
Marisa: "$And your first step is to buy them drinks?$" She eyes the bar meaningfully.
Ingenue sweeps in, eyes flicking across the room, other senses open to the chatter. ((Assess action on room, starting in zone 4.))
Ingenue rolled up 4dF: - - + 0 (Base: 4 Total: 3) ((Alertness Assessment))
Zinda Tegram turns slightly as if to lead Marisa to said bar. "$You know me too well, but setup I consider is for other people.$"
Ingenue spies a knot over in one corner - that would be the social conservatives, a certain designer recognizable among them. They are planning something…but it would be a simple matter to disrupt them before they can act.
Zinda Tegram: "$Or is there someone you'd like to meet tonight?$"
Zinda Tegram almost looks sultry. It doesn't suit her.
Abraham steps out of the limo wearing civilian attire but with faux ruined riot get armor. He looks around, trying to identify the major players. He, at least, has an agenda. ((Assess action on TNN.))
Marisa giggles. "$Ah, I hear you've got an in with one of the Admirals?$"
Abraham rolled up 4dF: + 0 - + (Base: 3 Total: 4) (Alertness Assestment)
[OOC] Abraham: Yes, she does. But Kali wouldn't like it to be widely known Zinda has an in with her.
DocAlexander keeps an eye on Ingenue.
Zinda Tegram: "$Haha, something like that. It goes both ways though. You might say I've been helping him for a favor down the road.$"
Zinda Tegram: "$There's another one that hates me though, don't worry.$"
Abraham easily identifies the TNN reporter, and sees that Donny is Out Of His Depth.
Zinda Tegram waves to indicate some drink for the bartender to pour her, glancing at Marisa to try and get a sense of what she'd like.
[OOC] Abraham: A hook!
Zinda Tegram: "$You can probably guess who.$"
DocAlexander scans the crowd for Larisa Mu, and heads her way.
Marisa: "$Ooh, you got under Dakka's skin?$"
Zinda Tegram: "$Kali's, actually.$"
Marisa: "$…oh.$" She giggles. "$That's too easy.$"
Zinda Tegram smiles "$Well, she's the one that sits on jump-points for three hour stretches.$"
[OOC] WC GM: Alexander: doing an action? Trying to talk her down the path toward cyber rights, perhaps?
[OOC] WC GM: If so, call out which skill you're using and roll it.
[OOC] DocAlexander: Ah, I wasn't sure if moving took an action. I guess it doesn't in this case?
[OOC] Abraham: I believe we get a free move each round…
[OOC] WC GM: Nah. Free move aside, you start off wherever you want in this particular combat.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: You get a free move, just like personal combat, but since we weren't really IN a zone to start with…))
Zinda Tegram takes a sip. "$Have to say though, I'm surprised to see one of Oldziey's top boarders this far out. I've not been able to get a lot of the news from back home, so ah…$"
DocAlexander: "So you must be Larisa Mu. I've been fan of the IP for a while."
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: - + - - (Base: 3 Total: 1) (Charm)
[OOC] DocAlexander: well, that didn't work out very well….
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Spend a Fate-point to re-roll?
[OOC] DocAlexander: sure
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: 0 - - - (Base: 3 Total: 0) (Charm)
[OOC] DocAlexander: oops…
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Dropping a Maneuver? "Listening to Alexander?"
WC GM rolled up 4dF: 0 0 0 + (Base: 2 Total: 3) (Resolve)
Larisa: "And you are…?" She blinks, unmoved.
[OOC] WC GM: That seemed more like a Move Another?
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Could have been the intro to one, yeh…
DocAlexander: "Oh, sorry… I'm Alex Morello, Admiral Bounty's personal physician."
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Wow Chessa.
[OOC] DocAlexander: would I be able to tag something to that regard?
[OOC] Abraham: I tend to think of you as the ship doc, rather than my personal medicine monkey.
[OOC] DocAlexander: one sounds fancier than the other, I think
[OOC] Ingenue: Abraham is the brain of the ship.
[OOC] Abraham: Well, as long as this ship doesn't sing…
[OOC] WC GM: Alexander: you can certainly spend FP to tag aspects. Doing so?
[OOC] DocAlexander: sure, Personal Friend of the Admiral, I suppose?
[OOC] DocAlexander: roll for that, too?
[OOC] WC GM: Are you tagging for reroll or tagging for +2?
[OOC] WC GM: If +2, you only need a couple of them to beat her score.
[OOC] DocAlexander: With this luck, I think I'll stick for a +2
[OOC] WC GM: Also, Confed Central is on your sheet; Personal Friend of the Admiral isn't.
[OOC] Ingenue: Wise.
[OOC] DocAlexander: Ah, sorry, still figuring this stuff out
[OOC] WC GM: So that's one, you need a second as well.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: May I suggest "The Admiral's Eyes are On You"
[OOC] DocAlexander: so… tagging Confed Central and Stand Back, I'm a Doctor, I guess?
[OOC] DocAlexander: I don't have that, though
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Wait derp that's spyboy's
[OOC] DocAlexander: yeah
[OOC] Ingenue: That's okay, you can tag someone else's aspects if it makes sense. Frequently, you have to, cause of scope.
[OOC] WC GM: Yeah. Though - there are enough options I'll just give it, though next time note that you can only apply one personal aspect. Other aspects can be justified as scene or something else.
[OOC] DocAlexander: Oh, sorry
Larisa: "A pleasure to meet you." She extends her hand to shake.
DocAlexander awkwardly attempts to shake her hand with his "good" hand.
Larisa tilts her head. "Is there something wrong with that hand?" She nods at the gloved appendage.
DocAlexander: "Uh… well… no, I suppose…. it's…. complicated."
[OOC] Abraham: "Oh no, the glove is just terribly comfortable. I expect everyone will be wearing them in the future."
Larisa smiles. "I've seen complicated." She reaches to grab it.
DocAlexander attempts to pull his arm away.
That is enough to stop her reach. Though he has distracted her attention - Ingenue is the first to notice the conservative knot heading their way.
The Integrated alert and swarm, pulling off several of those who would attack, but three still make it into conversation range.
ConservativeShrill1: "Hey! Stop bothering the poor lady, y'darn cyber."
Larisa: "Huh?"
ConservativeShrill2: "You didn't hear? That there's a cyber arm. No wonder he's hiding it."
ConservativeShrill3: "Feh. People like him shouldn't be out in public."
Ingenue: "[!]"
[OOC] WC GM: 2*composure attack on Alexander, 1*Move Another on Larisa
WC GM rolled up 4dF: 0 0 0 0 (Base: 2 Total: 2) (Charm for Move Another)
DocAlexander: "Closed minded people like you shouldn't be out in public!"
Ingenue eyes narrow.
WC GM rolled up 4dF: 0 - 0 0 (Base: 2 Total: 1) (Resolve defense vs. MA)
Abraham notices the fracas, but let's Alexander handle it on his own.
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - 0 0 0 (Base: 2 Total: 1) (Intimidation to attack Alexander)
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - 0 - 0 (Base: 2 Total: 0) (Intimidation to attack Alexander)
[OOC] WC GM: Alexander: roll defense vs. Intimidation. Try to get at least 1.
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: - - - + (Base: 3 Total: 1) (Resolve to resist intimidation)
[OOC] DocAlexander: I tried my best!
Zinda Tegram glances back to the to the fracas and narrows her eyes. "$Well, it seems it's starting.$"
[OOC] Abraham: Chessa…
[OOC] WC GM: Successful defense. PCs' turn!
Zinda Tegram looks at Marisa. "$I'd like to get your opinion on something.$"
[OOC] WC GM: Note: Larisa was moved 1 shift forward and 1 shift back.
Marisa: "$Yes?$"
[OOC] DocAlexander: so she's in the same place?
[OOC] WC GM: Winds up w/0 movement, yeah.
[OOC] Abraham: Yes, but she is now sideways and upside down.
Zinda Tegram: "$You've probably noticed that those of us with implants aren't so welcome here. The admiral and I were, ah, hoping to put out a statement you see…$"
Zinda Tegram: "$I was curious what you thought of the way that fellow over there is being treated.$"
Zinda Tegram nods in Alexander's direction.
Marisa: "$I've seen it before. Ehh…I know where they're coming from, but…$"
Zinda Tegram: "$It doesn't seem right does it?$"
Marisa shrugs. "$It does seem a bit much.$"
Zinda Tegram: "$The way I see it…it's dishonorable. I…I can't abide it. That's people like us, Marisa. We're the lucky ones, we didn't need it because through luck or skill we didn't get hurt badly enough to need them…but you've lived in Oldziey. Just how many lives do you think we saved when we decided to break from confed traditions?$"
Zinda Tegram makes direct eye contact with Marisa.
Zinda Tegram rolled up 4dF: - - - 0 (Base: 7 Total: 4) (Resolve to move target, tagging "And Now We See Eye to Eye", Instilled with a Knight's Pride.)
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Ouch.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Tagging 'Sworn to uphold justice' for a re-roll.
Zinda Tegram rolled up 4dF: + - - 0 (Base: 7 Total: 6)
WC GM rolled up 4dF: 0 - 0 0 (Base: 2 Total: 1) (Resolve defense)
Marisa: "$…yeah…I can see it.$" She frowns. "$I can see it quite a lot. I'll have to think about this…$"
[OOC] WC GM: Pass value 2/zone = moved 3 zones = shifted all the way in one strike
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Yeah! : 3
[OOC] Abraham: One down… and I believe WC said if they hit either end they'er locked in…
[OOC] WC GM: Err…wait, no, that's 5 rather than 6.
[OOC] WC GM: So she still needs one more nudge.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Well then…)
[OOC] WC GM: But yeah. One more nudge and she's locked. Anyone going to nudge her?
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Tagging "Don't you lay a finger on my Daughter!"
[OOC] Abraham: ah well. Zinda, go find a feather and hit her with it.
[OOC] WC GM: Zinda just did her action. Everyone else has yet to go.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Ah, so no more tags?
[OOC] WC GM: Err…not sure how DYLAFOMD applies?
[OOC] WC GM: Also, was typing that up then saw the extra tag.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Well, if it's legal I'm tagging that as a source of…no wait scope it's illegal.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Then I'll tag Alexander's Arm.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: As he's the example.
[OOC] WC GM: That works. Marisa's locked.
[OOC] Abraham: Now I see Zinda with a price tag machine trying to mark down Alexander's arm.
Zinda Tegram sets her drink down.
[OOC] WC GM: "This Cursed Metal Arm of Mine" tagged for a bonus, for once.
[OOC] DocAlexander: Didn't think that would ever happen
Zinda Tegram: "I hope to have the support of Oldziey's voice soon, Marisa. But for now…Well, $chivalry demands action.$"
[OOC] WC GM: That's Fate for you. Anyway, everyone else, go!
Marisa nods.
Michael Pearson sidles over towards the social conservatives.
Michael Pearson: "Excuse me, miss?"
Michael Pearson addresses the store lady.
Michael Pearson: "That's an…interesting outfit."
Michael Pearson: "Could you tell me where you bought it? So I can make sure my wife never, never goes there."
[OOC] DocAlexander: oh snap
[OOC] WC GM: Store lady = the designer?
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Using Charm for a composure attack. Spending a Fate Point to blind tag 'Pride in my Work' or anything similar.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Yes.
Ingenue focuses its full attention on the three…. /things/ harassing the doctor. ((Active scan on those three, do they have anything implanted in their body that could be construed as cyber/prosthetic? Using Culture, since what would qualify as verboten is purely a cultural norm.))
The designer is not, in fact, one of the shrills, but rather one of the harried people. But the shrills do hear and flinch. "You…you DARE?!? You are WEARING MY DESIGNS!"
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Oh. Whoops.
[OOC] WC GM: EH. It works. Roll it.
[OOC] WC GM: Also, Ingenue, roll it.
Michael Pearson rolled up 4dF: - 0 0 + (Base: 4 Total: 4)
Ingenue rolled up 3: 3 (3) ((Culture/Tech roll for scanning))
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - + - + (Base: 3 Total: 3) (Resolve)
Abraham moves to Donny. "You look like a man in desperate need of a drink. Not enjoying the rave?"
Ingenue rolled up 4dF: - - 0 + (Base: 3 Total: 2) ((Culture/Tech roll for scanning))
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - - 0 - (Base: 3 Total: 0) (Stealth to resist scans)
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Snerk
[OOC] WC GM: Ahh, Chessa.
Donny: "I'll admit, this isn't my usual venue…oh! Admiral Bounty! I'd heard you would be in attendance. To what do I owe the pleasure of your acquaintance?"
Ingenue quite easily sees Pacemakers…And Something More. It is difficult to see what, though.
Abraham: "Well, I looked for the peson most likely to be friendly to a military man in this place, and I found you."
Donny smiles. "Ah, you flatter me."
[OOC] Michael Pearson: =o
[OOC] Ingenue: In all three of them? Or just one?
[OOC] WC GM: All three.
[OOC] WC GM: But only the one free tag.
[OOC] Ingenue: Well yeah, its more a zone aspect than anything.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Like, a CASIE aug? Or….like, a Neutrino Comm to their Nephilim masters?
Abraham: "I tell you, this place makes me feel like a cyborg. Out of place, not sure if you're going to be given the dignity and respect a person deserves, people looking at you funny like you're a thing. You feel like that?"
[OOC] Ingenue: Either way, Nue will examine it more in depth next round~
[OOC] WC GM: Looks more like bodygear than headgear.
DocAlexander rips off his glove and throws it at <ConservativeShrill3>'s face.
Donny: "…I have, but…why cyborgs? They're less human."
Ingenue: "Strange. I wonder what would necessitate such… curious alterations."
[OOC] WC GM: Composure attack, Alexander? Which skill?
[OOC] DocAlexander: I was just trying to decide what I'd roll for a glove attack
[OOC] WC GM: Agility and Resolve are both easily applicable here.
[OOC] Abraham: Okay, I am officially changing your name to Doctor Talon.
[OOC] Ingenue: Oratory? Let it be the preemptive strike in a crippling lecture on cybernetics.
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: - + - 0 (Base: 3 Total: 2) (Resolve (Take that!))
Abraham: "Less human? That's interesting. In fact, that'd down right bizarre."
[OOC] WC GM: Oratory would do for the follow-up, but this is the preemptive strike itself.
[OOC] DocAlexander: can/should I tag something for that?
WC GM rolled up 4dF: + 0 + 0 (Base: 3 Total: 5) (Resolve)
Zinda Tegram notices increasingly sporadic shots of activity from her daughter on the comm.
[OOC] WC GM: Can, and probably should.
[OOC] Ingenue: Icy Under Pressure?
[OOC] DocAlexander: I was thinking "The Hippocratic Oath Only Applies in My Office"
[OOC] WC GM: You could take advantage of the bits Ingenue is discovering once a way to communicate them to you is used.
[OOC] WC GM: Works. Not enough to hit, but enough to prevent Spin formation.
Abraham: "A man who looses his legs fighting for his sector and needs prosthetics is less human? Very very bizarre."
[OOC] DocAlexander: so, +2 instead of re-roll?
[OOC] Ingenue: The line at 16:12; Nue did say they were augmented. Can't say how yet, that's what the next round is for.
[OOC] WC GM: I was assuming +2.
[OOC] DocAlexander: I was thinking of re-rolling
[OOC] Michael Pearson: You're generally better with +2 than reroll unless you roll a -4.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: But the chance is there.
[OOC] DocAlexander: ah, okay, +2, then.
[OOC] WC GM: +2, it's 4 vs. 5.
[OOC] WC GM: Your choice.
Donny: "Well, isn't he? I mean, he's less by his legs."
[OOC] DocAlexander: +2, then
The glove slides off. That nearly hurt…nearly.
Abraham: "Well, I suppose that's one way of seeing the situation. Personally, I think sacrificing a piece of yourself for what you believe in, makes you more human."
Donny: "That is an interesting perspective. Is it one you intend to promote, Admiral?"
DocAlexander: "Do you know how I got this arm?"
DocAlexander: "I got it defending you people at Chandley!"
ConservativeShrill3: "Funny. I thought you were some junkie who'd shot up his arm too much."
[OOC] DocAlexander: Oh, them's fightin' words
[OOC] WC GM: Yep. Classic tactic: get the other guy to punch you. Even if he wins the fight, he loses.
[OOC] Ingenue: New tactic: Get Zinda to punch them.
[OOC] WC GM: Tooorchyyy…Paunch?
Zinda Tegram steps in next to Alexander.
Zinda Tegram: "Excuse me sir, are you bothering my associate?"
Abraham: "I do. I have men under my command, and the chances of all of them getting out of this war intact… well, math hasn't invented a number low enough for those odds yet. If they live, if, they will wake up every morning feeling metal and plastic rubbing against their organs and muscles."
Donny: "Interesting."
ConservativeShrill3: "No, I am bothering a cyber."
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Still round two?
Zinda Tegram: "Yes, who happens to be my associate and nearly died saving lives at Chandley."
Zinda Tegram steps forward.
Zinda Tegram: "Do you know who you're talking to?"
[OOC] WC GM: Still round two. Waiting on Abraham's action.
Abraham: "So I intend to make damned sure that society will treat them like heroes. And not things. Not second class citizens, barred from certain buildings."
ConservativeShrill3: "Someone who'd defend a cyber?"
DocAlexander clenches his mechanical fist.
Zinda Tegram: "Dame Zinda Tegram."
Abraham rolled up 4dF: + - + - (Base: 4 Total: 4) (Bureaucracy Move Other action (bringing up Civil Rights for bureaucracy))
Zinda Tegram takes another step forward into conservativeshrill3's personal space.
[OOC] Abraham: That was down right sociable of you Chessa.
Zinda Tegram: "And, someone who's even less of a cyber than you, Mr. Pacemaker."
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - + 0 + (Base: 2 Total: 3) (Bureaucracy)
[OOC] WC GM: That's 3/6 for Donny. He's shifted one zone.
[OOC] WC GM: Tagging anything else? You have the Out Of His Depth tag, for instance.
[OOC] Abraham: Free tag Donny's Out of Hid Depth aspect?
[OOC] WC GM: That's 5/6.
[OOC] Abraham: Tagging Military Family
[OOC] WC GM: That's 7/6, and Donny is now locked.
[OOC] Abraham: For 1 FP.
[OOC] DocAlexander: 2/3 are locked, then?
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Yup.
Donny: "Hmm. I could get behind that." He looks over at the commotion. "Not like those three."
[OOC] WC GM: Aye.
[OOC] DocAlexander: Excellent…
Donny: "You know, it's a bit sad, really."
Donny: "Did you know Marisa came here to reconnect with them? They used to be in the same Special Ops squad. But they're so far apart now."
[OOC] Michael Pearson: =o
[OOC] DocAlexander: GASP
Donny: "Those three could not stand what they had become. Marisa just accepted it."
The shrills turn their attention upon Zinda and Alexander for the moment.
ConservativeShrill1: "Dame? Doesn't Amount to Much or Enough?"
ConservativeShrill2: "No, no, Don't Annoy ME. You know, someone who thinks they're tough and entitled."
Abraham: "Yeah. That's part of the reason I'm still here. At the party, I mean instead of just making some excuse and leaving. Because after I leave this building… I won't be stared at. There won't be any whispers behind my back anymore. And I'll be the normal again. My men won't ever be able to leave this room. So I'm here, to make sure this room doesn't exist one second longer than necessary."
ConservativeShrill3: "Ha! C'mon, let's get the nice journalist away from the cyber and his defender."
WC GM rolled up 4dF: + - - - (Base: 2 Total: 0) (Intimidation vs. Zinda)
WC GM rolled up 4dF: 0 + - - (Base: 2 Total: 1) (Intimidation vs. Zinda)
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - + + - (Base: 2 Total: 2) (Intimidation vs. Alexander)
Zinda Tegram: "Heh, Larisa, you don't strike me as the type to follow bigots and blowhards."
Zinda Tegram rolled up 4dF: - - 0 0 (Base: 3 Total: 1) (Resolve)
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Terrible roll, but Zinda's tough. She can handle it.
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: + + 0 0 (Base: 3 Total: 5) (Resolve)
Zinda Tegram rolled up 4dF: + - + - (Base: 4 Total: 4) (Alertness)
[OOC] WC GM: Enjoy your Spin, Alexander.
[OOC] WC GM: What's the Alertness for?
[OOC] DocAlexander: hooray for good rolls!
Zinda Tegram: "Careful kids…whenever you set up a hierarchy you can't be sure you won't end up on the bottom."
Donny: "Mind if I quote you on that, sir?"
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Alertness to try and move Larisa by pointing something out.
Larisa is looking just a tad alarmed, and backing away on her own.
WC GM rolled up 4dF: - + + + (Base: 3 Total: 5) (Larisa is trying to Stealth away on her own)
[OOC] DocAlexander: very sneaky, that journalist
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: In which direction?
[OOC] WC GM: Too sneaky. But that's part of who I'm ripping off for her.
[OOC] WC GM: She's moving away from the conversation.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Well, that's to our advantage. Abraham can pick up the trail later.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Let her go.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Argh! Do I move in to give you guys more ammo, or do I chase down the woman who thinks she's a better spy than me?
[OOC] WC GM: It's round 3 as of Zinda's Alertness roll, for note.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: The woman is our objective.
Ingenue rolled up 4dF: 0 - + - (Base: 4 Total: 3) ((More Analysis For Data! Specifically, what are those other mods?))
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Looks like Nue's taking care of that side.
WC GM rolled up 4dF: + 0 - - (Base: 3 Total: 2) (Stealth to resist analysis)
These mods…they're almost as if the shrills are Augmented For Combat…?
Ingenue has just /stared/ at the three men, with an intensity only seen in cats, serial killers and video cameras…
Abraham: "I was kinda hoping you would. I want /everyone/ to know how I feel about this. And I suck at blogging."
[OOC] DocAlexander: Abraham's Tumblr has like 3 followers
Donny: "I'll forward you a link once my post is ready, so your publicist can review and approve, Admiral."
Abraham: "I would however rather you didn't quote me on my blogging prowess."
Abraham: "Thank you."
[OOC] Abraham: Is that good? Or bad?
Donny chuckles. "I'll consider withholding that."
[OOC] WC GM: You get to censor his post. That's him trying to bribe you with influence.
[OOC] DocAlexander: It's bad. Even I have more than that and I haven't updated my photography blog in ages
[OOC] WC GM: Your call on whether that's good, bad, or worthless.
Zinda Tegram notices the pip on the nue-comm and grins.
Zinda Tegram: "Combat mods, huh?"
[OOC] WC GM: Michael, Abraham, and Alexander, you're up.
The shrills FREEZE.
Zinda Tegram: "Then that must make you…"
Zinda Tegram thinks back.
[OOC] WC GM: …Alexander's attack, but that's +4 at least from free tags.
Zinda Tegram: "Well, you're Crest or Oldziey then. And since you seem to hate yourself that must make you Oldziey. So, when did people like us start buying into confed crap about augs, huh?"
Abraham stands. "Now if you will excuse me, I have some walls to tear down."
Michael Pearson steps back from his previous conversation to locate the runaway journalist. Fortunately he knows exactly where she'd go.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Tactics to locate her, or jump into the persuade attempt?
ConservativeShrill3: "Wha…why you! We are MA-RINES. Confederate!"
[OOC] WC GM: She's not exactly lost in the crowd. Jump to persuade.
Ingenue: "[Warning! Targets Alpha, Beta, Gamma weaponized. Threat detected. Preparing to neutralize threat…]"
Michael Pearson: "[Stand by unless those weapons go hot.]"
Zinda Tegram: "Oh really? I wasn't aware that confed threw mods onto it's ground forces. Guess I shouldn't be surprised though…"
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Do they look hot, weapon-wise?
[OOC] WC GM: They don't, yet.
[OOC] DocAlexander: doesn't that mean they were disrespecting and officer?
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: They won't if we don't.
Michael Pearson: "Excuse me, miss? I hope those people weren't bothering you too much."
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Vacuum sucker, Alex. Doesn't count.
[OOC] WC GM: Cross-command. Also, they're ex-marines, so they're technically not under military law any more.
Abraham takes the time walking over to the very shrill people to look them over and plan an avenue of atta… dialogue.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: There's no such thing as an ex-Marine, WC! =p
[OOC] WC GM: But there are dishonorable discharges.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Yep, that would do it.
Abraham rolled up 4dF: 0 0 - - (Base: 3 Total: 1) (Alertness Assessment Maneuver on the SocialShrills.)
[OOC] Abraham: They… might have thumbs… thumbs that /could/ be used to launch NUCLEAR WEAPONS. I'm so observant.
[OOC] WC GM: Stealth defense stands; Abraham doesn't uncover anything Ingenue hadn't already.
Larisa: "Oh? It's fine." She looks at Michael. "So, who're you?"
DocAlexander: "What makes you so much better than me, anyway?"
Michael Pearson: "Oh, hi, I'm Michael Pearson. I'm on Admiral Bounty's staff."
ConservativeShrill2: "We're not SHOWING it, for just anyone to see. How'd you find out, anyway?"
[OOC] Ingenue: Its so obvious a child could see it…
DocAlexander: "Neither was I until you people showed up!"
ConservativeShrill1: "With an easily removable glove. Yeah right."
DocAlexander: "What would you prefer, then?:"
Zinda Tegram: "Always trying to be better than other people huh?"
Michael Pearson: "You're Larisa Mu, right? With the Interstellar Press? I love your broadcast."
Larisa: "That's what he said." Larisa nods toward Alexander.
Michael Pearson: "Did he? I suppose we may have more in common than I'd thought."
Larisa snickers. "What, don't tell me you're also, well…" She gestures to her arm.
Michael Pearson waggles his fingers.
Michael Pearson: "Nope, still fully original parts."
[OOC] Michael Pearson: At least, that's not classified.
Larisa extends a hand to shake.
Michael Pearson shakes.
Michael Pearson: "It's just….those ninnies back there strike me as so hypocritical."
Larisa: "How so?"
Michael Pearson: "You know they're combat cyborgs, right? Implanted weapons all over. And yet they hate other transbiotics."
DocAlexander: "Would you prefer I just walk around missing an arm? How would I be able to do my job?"
ConservativeShrill3: "And what job is that? Janitor?"
Larisa's eyes widen. "They're WHAT?"
DocAlexander: "I am Lt. Commander Alexander Morello, Ship's Doctor on the TCS-Roland, personal physician to Admiral Bounty."
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Okay, Tactics that this is the right approach to take for Larisa Mu from 'see both sides of the argument' IP.
[OOC] WC GM: …for that, you can use Profession: Doctor to attack this turn.
[OOC] WC GM: Go for it.
Michael Pearson: "I wonder if they just weren't able to cope with the stigma?"
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: + - + + (Base: 5 Total: 7) (profession Doctor)
[OOC] WC GM: Alexander: you're using the free tags, so that's 11, right?
Michael Pearson rolled up 4dF: - 0 0 0 (Base: 5 Total: 4) (Tactics - perhaps the social pressure is pointing the wrong way.)
Michael Pearson channels his indignation for how the conservatives were harassing Larisa.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: FP to Invoke "Leave Her Alone, ASSHOLE!"
WC GM rolled up 4dF: + + 0 - (Base: 2 Total: 3) (Resolve for Larisa to resist movement)
WC GM rolled up 4dF: 0 - - - (Base: 1 Total: -2) (Bureaucracy - how does one overcome having insulted a doctor on his own turf?)
[OOC] Ingenue: Chessa says… you don't.
[OOC] Abraham: Actually Chessa says, you dig your hole deeper.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Spin!
[OOC] WC GM: Spin is on defense. This is 13 shifts to the offense.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Oh, n/m
[OOC] Ingenue: 13 shifts of offense is its own reward!
[OOC] Michael Pearson: Hence why it provides no spin. Nah, that conservative is just shamed out of combat.
[OOC] WC GM: Actually, for 13? I'll let it area attack.
[OOC] Michael Pearson: And will be walking home, with her friends, in the dark. In the rain. Or maybe that's her own tears.
[OOC] WC GM: That is one possibility. Not the only one. Relevant details PMed to Ingenue.
Ingenue: "[Energy spike detected. Scanning… location found. 'Marisa Hato'. Weaponry online.]"
Zinda Tegram catches the Nue-transmission and glances back to Marisa.
Marisa is glowering at the scene, her arms outstretched and pointing at the shrills.
Michael Pearson blinks
Michael Pearson: "Ohcrap."
[OOC] DocAlexander: we should get out the the way….
Larisa: "Is something wrong?"
Michael Pearson: "I hope not. Great Maker I hope not."
Zinda Tegram: "Marisa, that's a bad idea. But trust me I get the feeling."
Marisa: "What? They came here to talk me into feeling bad about myself. I left for Oldziey because I'd had enough of their repression."
Zinda Tegram: "Yeah but shooting them is gonna set both of us back, and make our public image even worse."
Marisa: "They're trying to provoke a fight. Trying to pick on the doctor who lost his arm for all of us."
Zinda Tegram: "Well, if we're gonna do this, can we go outside so the collateral doesn't cause problems?"
…somewhat belatedly, the shrills' systems begin powering up.
Ingenue looks at Marisa. Looks at the 'shrills. Back to Marisa. Then to Zinda. Then to Alexander. Then back to the 'shrills. Then down at Nue's very pointy shoes. There is only one logical conclusion.
Michael Pearson: "….huh. I wonder if their guns are on a frequency I can jam?"
Michael Pearson slips out his computer and pokes around the standard maintenance access protocols, looking for wireless.
Abraham steps between Marisa and the three, with his back to Marisa. "You three, come with me. We have things to discuss." He then proceeds to walk out the building, without looking back to see if they are following.
Zinda Tegram keeps a hand on her torch-case, just-in-case.
The shrills and Marisa do not show up on standard maintenance frequencies.
DocAlexander rolled up 4dF: 0 + + 0 (Base: 3 Total: 5) (Alertness to notice everyone getting read for a fight)
[OOC] WC GM: Yeah, you notice.
Zinda Tegram: "Marisa, you're smarter than this…"
Neither do they follow Abraham outside. Abraham does, however, wander into a throng of police, lead by the Mayor. "Ah, Admiral. We received an alert about weapons being drawn?"
[OOC] WC GM: Because of course any good rave gets raided by the cops.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: So, where are we act, victory-wise?
Abraham blinks and says, very carefully, "I didn't see any weapons drawn. Things got a bit heated, but they are handling it themselves."
[OOC] WC GM: You've won.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: Donny is with us, Marisa is with us, Larisa…oh, we got Larisa?
[OOC] WC GM: Your opponents got Taken Out.
[OOC] Zinda Tegram: I…see.
[OOC] DocAlexander: and a fight seems to be about to start
[OOC] WC GM: Area attack, all opposition was in the same zone, with that many shifts…
Zinda Tegram looks between Marisa and the Shrills.
Zinda Tegram: "Hey, you fucks, will you back down if she does?"
Marisa exhales, lowering her arms and powering down. "Fine. Just…get them out of here."
Zinda Tegram exhales and glances to the shills.
Zinda Tegram: "Gladly. Hey, I don't think you're welcome here, and not 'cause you're auged."
Zinda Tegram looks straight at the shills.
Zinda Tegram: "And, since I'm not looking for a scene here, you might wanna take the back entrance."
Zinda Tegram: "'Cause the police in the front don't look too happy."
Zinda Tegram: "And I still want to try dancing."
Zinda Tegram smiles at Marisa.
ConservativeShrill1: "…fine. C'mon, we're leaving." They file out the back, trying to retain some dignity.
Zinda Tegram finally takes a hand off her torch and exhales.
Zinda Tegram: "Jarheads…"
Zinda Tegram: "Heh, I wasn't kidding about dancing though…"
Zinda Tegram glances over at Marisa. "$What do you think?$"
Marisa: "Once a marine, always a marine." She steps up to Zinda. "$Want to see a few moves?$"
DocAlexander exhales, and wobbles slightly.
DocAlexander goes to find a wall to lean against.
Zinda Tegram: "$Of course.$"
Ingenue picks up Alex's glove, handing it to him.
DocAlexander: "Thanks, Ingenue."
Ingenue: "You look better without it."
DocAlexander smiles faintly.
DocAlexander: "Maybe…"
Marisa puts a hand around Zinda, and then…it's almost like being in zero-g, despite the gravity field, the way she practically flies around.
Thanes: "And now we're getting reports all is well." He raises an eyebrow at Abraham. "What did your people DO?"
DocAlexander puts the glove in his back pocket.
Ingenue patpat. "Much better."
DocAlexander: "You're a strange little robot, you know that?"
Ingenue: "Thank you?"
Abraham arches an eyebrow. "We showed a little compassion and… maybe made a point."
